Bio
Aziz Zoromba is an Egyptian-Canadian writer-director and producer. Growing up between two distinct countries and cultures, Aziz’s work focuses on the themes of Arab identity, assimilation and multigenerational trauma through diverse cinematic genres. He is a graduate of Montreal's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema and is a 2019 Sundance Ignite fellow.
His 2022 live-action short, SIMO, won the Best Canadian Film Award at TIFF and the Canadian Screen Award for the best live-action short, going on to land its international premiere at Sundance and European premiere at Berlinale.
His 2020 documentary short, FARAWAY, also screened at top international festivals including Slamdance, CamerImage, Palm Springs ShortFest, and more.
Aziz is currently developing his debut feature film and is in post-production on a feature-length documentary produced by the National Film Board of Canada.
